T-L’s hydrostatic drive offers many features not available on electric pivots. Unlike the stop-and-go action of electric models, each tower on a T-L system moves continuously. This is especially beneficial on low-pressure systems where uniform water application is critical for irrigation-applied fertilizer, herbicides and pesticides. Chances of a T-L tower getting stuck are reduced because of the improved traction that continuous movement provides on wet, rough terrain. A constant, smooth rate of travel also reduces wear on all drive components, while eliminating the wasteful power surge required to get a stopped tower moving again.
There is no wasted horsepower with a T-L because the power required to run the pump varies directly with the rotation time of the pivot. All T-L Irrigation Systems utilize non-toxic Hydroclear™ hydraulic fluid with an additive package specially designed to provide superior wear protection. T-L's hydrostatic drive delivers numerous advantages electrically driven systems can't: Continuous machine movement, which is critical to uniform water distribution, especially in low-pressure situations; Improved traction reducing the chances for getting stuck; and a constant-pressure-variable volume hydraulic pump ensuring full torque at any speed.
Our center pivot's unique alignment control valve will stop the system if the system gets stuck or seriously misaligned. A sensor will shut off the water at the same time. Structural and crop damage are avoided. T-L drive units, unmatched in strength and traction, receive continuous power to each wheel from hydraulic motors that are directly coupled to the final drive gear assembly.
Our center pivots are specifically designed for low-speed, high torques applications, they operate equally well in either direction. Our planetary gear drive operates at nearly 90% efficiency. They get the power to the ground with a minimum of wasted energy.
Three gears, instead of one, extend gear life and absorb stress. The reserve torque designed in protects against gearbox failure and ensures smooth operation of the center pivot at any speed.
Another option, worm gear drives, are available at a lower cost and like the planetary drive, are the most efficient of its kind available today. T-L Linear Irrigation Systems use up to 60% less water than flood irrigation and cover almost 98% of a rectangular field. Critical to higher value crops, T-L's continuous movement performance delivers the most precise water pattern available, most important when chemigating. T-L's simplicity allows one person to effectively manage many systems. With linear irrigation systems, the majority of the water is not needed at the outer end of the system reducing friction loss. Each sprinkler system distributes an equal amount of water regardless of its position on the system, making it ideal for low-pressure applications.
T-L Linear irrigation systems share the same hydrostatic design features as our pivots and can operate from a furrow, above-ground cable or buried wire. Water can be supplied from ditch, or hose-drag sources. Your can make your choice, hard or soft hose in sections up to 660' and a variety of diameters to fit your application.
T-L's one-span linear irrigation system can irrigate complex combinations of smaller and irregular systems. Preferred for specialty crops, experimental stations, and hybrid seed operations, they can irrigate variable widths and can accommodate water supplied by 3" to 5" diameter drag hoses.
